Kibale National Park is located near Fort Portal and Kasese in western
Uganda and covers an area of about 795km between 1100m to 1600m the park is
famous for uganda chimapzee trekking or uganda chimpanzee safari. It takes
about 2 hours from Kasese and 6 hours from Kampala to Kibale. Kibale national
park is a habitat of various wildlife species which include 13 primate species
including baboons, red colobus monkeys, mangabey, black and white monkeys,
L-Hoest monkeys among others and mammals like mongoose, bushbucks, and warthogs
among others bird species like great blue turaco, black and white hornbill
among others.

Activities in Kibale National Park

Chimpanzee tracking: this is one of the popular and common activity in
Kibale national park because Kibale is best known for chimpanzees in East
Africa. Chimpanzee tracking starts in the morning at 8:00 am and the afternoon
tracking starts at 2:00 pm which involves walking through the forest in search
of the chimpanzees for 2-3 hours and when found visitors is limited to one hour
in the presence of the primates, other primates that will be viewed include red
colobus monkey, blue monkey, L-Hoest monkey, baboons, bush babies among others.
Chimpanzee Acclimatization: This is the process that takes place to acclimatize
chimpanzees to human presence and takes place at the Kanyach Information
Center, known for Primate Migration and Chimpanzee Tracking. During the
chimpanzee habituation period, you will learn more about chimpanzee habits such
as mating and foraging, and you will have the opportunity to spend time with
chimpanzees, so we recommend that you bring a packed lunch and drinking water.

Birdwatching: Kibale National Park is home to more than
370 species of his birds and birdwatching tours can be done all year round,
starting around 7am from Kanichu in the middle of the park. Birds on display
include the papyrus gonorek, white warbler, great blue guillemot,
black-and-white hornbill, and breasted his pitta.
