Volcanoes National Park – Rwanda Home of Mountain Gorillas:  Africa’s home of mountain gorillas in Rwanda if not in the whole world alongside Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) – home of lowland gorillas. But most tragically, she was assassinated in 1985 by an unidentified group of persons who are thought to have disapproved of her efforts to preserve these lovely apes and their natural habitat.
